After seeing a news story about a child that had passed away while in foster care due to neglect, Renee Hanson, founder of RAM, was inspired to take action. Upon learning that the greatest need in foster care was help supporting and developing the hearts and minds of boys, she started RAM.
The most miraculous thing about these boys is that in spite of all the trauma, instability, and inconsistencies they have experienced in their lives, they still have hearts of gold. Unless these hearts are nurtured and protected, many of them turn to negative influences and eventually wind up making crucial mistakes that carry on into adulthood and have critical effects on future generations.
Our prayer is that the young men in the program will leave with the understanding of the importance of strong character, self-reliance and personal accountability. We believe that through the love and support provided by our programs, the boys will be able to develop an identity that supports personal responsibility and success, eventually becoming an asset to their communities.
